13th IWA International Conference on Water Reclamation and Reuse, Chennai, India, January 15-19, 2023
Mid-January Julia Wolters and Benedikt Aumeier traveled to Chennai, South India, to take part in the 13th IWA International Conference on Water Reclamation and Reuse. Many water reuse experts from approx. 30 countries around the globe came together to discuss the most important questions on water reuse. Selected conference topics and current trends include:
- heavy implementation activities in indirect and direct water reuse in California (Keynote: Shane Trussell);
- implementation projects for various water reuse applications in India;
- importance of stakeholder engagement into risk assessment, perception and acceptance of water reuse;
- agricultural and industrial water reuse activities in central Europe and notably in Germany.
The latter is largely supported by the BMBF funding measure "Water Technologies: Water Reuse (WavE II)".
Julia Wolters presented her work on “Solar Photocatalysis as Advanced Wastewater Treatment Enabling Agricultural Water Reuse” being part of the BMBF-funded project PEPcat. And Benedikt Aumeier presented how "Minimal backwashing impacts breakthrough through GAC filters in advanced waste water treatment".
Thanks to the organizers of a wonderful 13th IWA conference.
Thanks to the participants for so many and diverse discussions on water reuse projects - implementation and research alike.
And finally thanks to all our co-authors and everybody that supported the studies.
