On 1 September 2022, the project "StopUP (Stop urban pollution) - Protecting the aquatic environment from urban runoff pollution" has started, funded by the EU with 3.7 million euros. The project will run for 36 months and will focus on the characterisation of pollutants in urban runoff. The aim is to adequately adapt technical solutions for pollutant retention to protect the aquatic environment. Such solutions must take into account the case-specific context, including geography, climate, land use and watercourses into which discharges occur. StopUP aims to develop new methods, information, tools and guidance to more effectively limit the impact of diffuse urban pollution.
